Item Description
The National Football League commissioned Merv Corning to paint more than 300 subjects since 1967; his football pieces are in the collections of many NFL teams, players, coaches and owners. His art has also been included in several books: The Pro Football Experience, The Professionals, Great Ones and 75 Seasons.
Born in Southern California, artist Merv Corning received wide acclaim for his paintings, watercolors and original lithographs. Corning began his professional career as illustrator, fashion artist, advertising artist and art advertising executive for his own corporation. He received many honors and awards from the Society of Illustrators, Los Angeles Art Directors' Club and the Dillon Lauritzen Memorial Award for fine art. Corning's critically acclaimed artwork has been exhibited by many prestigious institutions, including the Smithsonian Institution, the Pentagon, the Pro Football Hall of Fame, the California Museum of Science and Industry, the Chicago Historical Society and the United States Air Force Museum. His artwork resides in the permanent collections of the Smithsonian Institution, the U.S. Air Force and other fine museums and institutions.
