Item Description
Original art by Kamala, the Calgary Zoo's Asian Elephant. This painting is 18" x 24", on a regular canvass ready to be framed. Kamala uses acrylics and her own special brushes to create her works of art. Her easel was modified to her height and she paints with great enthusiasm. This piece also comes with a DVD of her painting the original for your enjoyment. This painting called "Flying High" was created on January 29, 2009.
Item Special Note
Since 1994, Kamala has painted using custom brushes made especially for her, applying acrylics to an easel-mounted canvass. She is very enthusiastic and becomes quite excited when the easel and canvass appear. The easel, canvass and a selection of paints are laid out and she is left to create, receiving words of encouragement and some of her favorite snacks when she finishes. Proceeds from each of Kamala's paintings are directed back to the entire elephant family to support their enrichment, food requirements, diet supplements, building renovation and care. On average, Kamala paints about 50 paintings per year.
