ABOUT THE ARTIST:
The original designer of the fiberglass bear sculptures used for Bear Fest, Amy Davis, a theater artisan and designer, received a BA in Theater and Sociology from Marlboro College and an MFA in Scenic Design from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. Davis has worked in both prop construction and scenic design for several films, television shows, and theatrical performances across the United States, Canada, Europe, and Israel. Davis currently resides in Easthampton, MA where she is the co-President and co-Founder of New City Scenic & Display, Inc: http://www.newcityscenic.com/home.html.
ABOUT THE BEAR:
Paddy O'Bearen has a hat and jacket made from fiberglass. The jacket is covered in a layer of green glitter. He was first unveiled on March 22, 2009 at the Holyoke St. Patrick's Day Parade, where members of Easthampton City Arts and other City folk marched in the parade with him.
Item Special Note
This bear is a large bear. The measurements are as follows:
Height: 54" from tip of feet to top of ears, 44" from base (where the bottom sits on base) to ears.
Width: circumference - approximately 92" around at the widest point (around the paws and back). Footprint width is 21" and depth is 31".
Weight: This bear weighs approximately 45 lbs.
Other useful information: The bear will come with the log that it was displayed on in the exhibit, and will include the plaque on the log.
The bear is coated with a UV protective clear coat so that the paint will not fade with exposure to the sun.
