Item Description
This luxurious, light-plum carpet is a Royal Bukhara runner. Its $910 stated value reflects the price paid at auction in New York State in 1987. In like-new condition, it has presumably increased in worth.
The donors of this elegant, woolen runner believe it to have been made in Iran (Persia.) This type of carpet is created in many parts of Central Asia, its rich colors resulting from the use of vegetable-based and other natural dyes.
Item Special Note
A striking work of art, this Royal Bukhara runner measures 12' 4" x 2' 6".
Alternative names/spellings for this type of carpet include Bokhara, Bukharo, and Turkmen Rug or Carpet.
