Item Description
This Silk Qum rug features shades of green and blue. Its $3,745 value reflects the price paid for it at auction in New York State in 1988; it may be presumed to have increased in worth since then. It remains in superb condition.
Rugmaking began in Iran's holy city of Qum only in the 1930s, leaving Qum weavers free to adopt a number of traditional Persian styles. Silk Qum rugs such as this, with its knot count of approximately 400, are highly prized. For more information about Qum rugs, please click here.
Item Special Note
This rug includes tabs in back which make it suitable for hanging. Dimensions are 5' 4" x 3' 6".
The city's name, Qum, is also spelled "Quum", "Qom" and "Ghom".
