Engine room end of mechanical order telegraph from the U.S.S. Pictor (AF54) formerly known as SS Great Republic.
Requires cables to operate
Marked with standard navy signals
SS Great Republic built in 1942 on the west coast (possibly Bay Area)
Merchant Ship (carrier, used to transport materials from point to point)
Navy purchased and renamed USS Pictor, used for underway replenishment and refrigerated storage
Decommissioned in December, 1969
USS Pictor named after a constellation
Mr. Etchingham was the chief engineer on the USS Pictor and has had this item in his possession since it was decommissioned.
