This package consist of the following 3 steamship books:
1) "U.S. Steamship, a Picture Postcard History" by Frank O. Braynard, introduction by Walter Cronkite, copyright 1991. -Book is a Picture postcard history of American passenger carrying ships of all types, in all U.S. coastal areas. There are 220 illustration of Postcards; many printed in the 19th Century, and some of which are quite rare. All are reproduced in actual size-in black and white-except those reproduced in color on the front and back covers of the book.
2) "Scuttlebutt" by George E. Murphy

Murphy fondly remembers the hilarious antics and embarrassing moments of the people with whom he has worked. George E. Murphy shares his memoirs from his forty-three-year career with a steamship company. He recounts true stories from his time spent aboard both cargo and passenger ships, in numerous ports of call, as well as on the piers and in his office. This telltale book includes humorous anecdotes, beginning with Murphy’s days at the Massachusetts Maritime Academy until his retirement from the United States lines.
About the Author
George E. Murphy, a retired marine engineer, graduated from the Massachusetts Maritime Academy, class of 1943. He is a member of the Society of Marine Port Engineers, the New Jersey chapter of the American Merchant Marine Veterans, and the Navy League. He and his wife are parents to three children.
