Item Description
Authentic US Navy airplane recognition model made by the Cruver Company of Chicago scale 1/72 of the Curtis Hell Diver. This was the major Naval carrier based dive bomber used in late1943 ( replacing the Douglas Dauntless Dive Bomber) till war’s end. Some 7100+ were made and used by the Navy, Marines and US Army AIR Force. Nicknamed the "Big-Tailed Beast" because of its difficult flying characteristics.
The model is in decent shape considering these were made of cellulose acetate (black "plastic) and tend to deteriorate over time. It was made in March 1943 and has a slight crack underneath and the tail is now a little crooked but otherwise it is in good shape; Reproductions are readily available but this is authentic and therefore rare. It is 6" long and has an 8" wingspan.
