Item Description
Two authentic US Navy recognition models made by Comet Metals Company in the early 1940's: the Japanese aircraft carrier Shukako ( 8") and the Japanese battleship ISE (7") both 1/1200 scale. These models were used during the war to help US military personnel identify allied and enemy warships. The wooden bases have been removed and the screw holes filled and they have been repainted; otherwise they are in good condition (guns slightly bent on the battleship; rear mast replaced; bulges where holes were filled on carrier should be filed down.).
Both the Shokaku and the ISE were part of the attack on Pearl Harbor and subsequently fought in numerous naval battles until sunk; the Shokaku on 6/19/44 by the submarine USS Cavalla during the battle of the Philippine Sea and the ISE on 7/28/45 by air attacks on a Japanese harbor where it was stationed as an anti-aircraft barge.
