Spring Wreath
Randa Newland looks back to her roots in the Ozark Mountains of Arkansas and Missouri as inspiration. Her current works are a means for her to create "domesticated landscapes of antique paper, beading, and actual leaves" that reference ancient mosaics in Rome and patterns from "cherished family quilts." Newland is professor of Printmaking and Painting at the Rhode Island School of Design, and her work is included in the collections of the Aldrich Museum of Contemporary Art, the Dallas Museum of Fine Arts, the Springfield Art Museum, and numerous university and corporate collections. She is represented by Pepper Gallery, Boston: www.peppergalleryboston.com.
