Item Description
Since 1749 a light has marked Beavertail - the tip of Jamestown (Conanicut Island) - for the safety of sailors. The current structure, depicted here, was built in 1856, repaired after the 1938 hurricane and restored in 1989.
This stunning photograph by Peter Smith of Attleboro, MA captures the essence of Beavertail Light - still protecting mariners as well as attracting tourists drawn to its beauty.
Peter Smith loves to photgrphically document our region's coast and his work is often displayed at the Attleboro Arts Museum.
