EcoTulum's Sustainability Initiatives

EcoTulum values connection with nature as part of unique travel experiences harmonizing body, mind and soul, and encourages ecotourism, the development and protection of local cultures and values. EcoTulum takes steps in daily operations to minimize environmental impact, and to provide guests with quality natural experiences embracing the local tropical jungle. Some examples of EcoTulum's environmental practices are: organic spa products, locally produced natural body and beauty products, organic room amenities, wholesome natural meals with optional vegetarian menus, minimal water usage, and use of reclaimed wood/recycled building materials.

Not Your Usual Tropical Vacation

EcoTulum seeks to offer a non-conventional vacation experience that promotes peaceful balance of body, mind and soul.

Please note: Electricity is available only for a few hours after sunset with a generator (except for Zahra, which is more family-oriented). None of the EcoTulum Resorts have air conditioning. In an effort to conserve water, guests are requested not to wash clothing in their rooms. Gas tanks are brought in to heat water for the bathrooms, and bath water is brought from town in trucks. This well water is stored in ground-level tanks and pumped several times a day to upper tanks to provide running water in all bathrooms. Water pressure may not be as strong as what you are used to back home. Wireless internet access is available in the hotel reception, the Maya Spa reception, and the Copal restaurant.
