Item Description
This original Chinese brush painting by artist Bettie Sarantos of Newport, RI is titled Iris.
Bettie attributes her unique style to her love of oriental painting and she has studied Chinese brushwork for many years. Chinese brush bristles can be made of fibers from many animals, including panthers, wolves, sheep, horses - even mouse whiskers! Notice the small red seal or "chop" in the image: It's Bettie's name in Chinese. Bettie is a member of the Art League of Rhode Island and the Copley Society in Boston. Her works may be seen at Spring Bull Gallery in Newport.
