Item Description
David Rakowski's piano etudes are among the most challenging and entertaining pieces in the solo repertoire of our time and are fast becoming showcase pieces for pianists across the country. Part of their immediate appeal is that each etude fleshes out a particular idea quite audibly which is referenced in a usually comic title. Naming a Rakowski etude helps solidify that relationship and over the years he has occasionally relied on friends and colleagues to come up with the appropriate appellation. As Rakowski is nearing his 100th etude and has sworn off writing any more of them, the composer has graciously opened the door to AMC auction participants for the once in a lifetime opportunity to name one of these final miniature tours-de-force.
Item Special Note
Due to the large typeface used for titles on the étude scores, shorter titles are preferred. The étude with the winning title will be composed by December 2010.
