Item Description
You and three friends are in for a rare treat. Step back in time and take a sneak peek at the beginnings of Broadway. You will be taken on a private tour of the famous Shubert Archive. The tour will prove a rare opportunity to learn the history of the Shubert and look at the archive’s collections which include costume and set designs, architectural plans, music, business records, correspondence and press materials. The Archive is located in the penthouse over the Lyceum Theatre.
The Shubert Archive is the repository for the records of The Shubert Organization. Established in 1976, it contains some six million artifacts in all, including business documents, leases, scripts, musical scores, set and costume designs and photographs. As the history of the producing and theatre-owning Shubert Brothers, and their administrative heirs, stretched back to the very dawn of Broadway theatre, the materials document every era of the modern theatre district's history.
After your private Shubert Archives tour, enjoy a dinner for two at the famous Sardi’s restaurant, in the heart of the theatre district.
