The Yoga Borgo

Located in the foothills of the Apennine mountains with spectacular views of the Upper Tiber Valley of Tuscany and Umbria, the Yoga Borgo is perfect for both individual and group retreats.  The Borgo sits on 4 hectares (10 acres) of land surrounded by endless natural woodlands and meadows, ideal for hiking and meditation. 

The Borgo consists of a Medieval Longobard Tower with its own hamlet which dates back to the 4^th

century. For centuries the Borgo was a ‘convento' (religious community) and was a center for the families that lived nearby.  The community became known as "Passano", a place of safe passage for pilgrims and travelers.  In honor of its history, the original house has the name "Ca' dei Frati", or House of the Friars.

The Borgo serves gourmet vegetarian cuisine, incorporating local and organic produce, much of which is grown in its own gardens. Your hosts bring to the Borgo many years of restaurant experience, owning and managing Golden Temple Restaurants in Los Angeles, and Washington, D.C.  Meals at the Yoga Borgo are a joyous celebration of delicious food and friendship. (Please note the Borgo is a vegetarian, alcohol-free, non-smoking yoga ashram and retreat center.)

The beautiful yoga room in the tower has a vaulted stone ceiling and sits on the foundation of the ancient ‘convento' (religious house).  In warm weather, classes may be held outdoors in the lovely shaded meadow,

Sada Sat Kaur and Sada Sat Singh, the master-teachers/proprietors of the Yoga Borgo hold courses and events in yoga, music, chanting and cooking throughout the year.

Your stay includes a private room for two, plus one complimentary early morning yoga class along with three vegetarian meals each day. There are additional classes in yoga, meditation and mantra, both group and private, for guests. These require an additional fee. All classes are taught by certified Kundalini yoga teacher trainers.

Treatments in Flower Essences, Nutrition, and Tantric Numerology are also available.

Local Sites and Things to Do:

Many historic and beautiful Umbrian and Tuscan towns are located nearby, including Assisi, Perugia, Urbino,  Arezzo and Florence.  The Yoga Borgo is just a short drive from the picturesque villages of Sansepolcro (birthplace of Piero della Francesca), Anghiari, Citta' di Castello and its own little town, San Giustino.

The land surrounding the Borgo is a hiker's and naturalist's paradise with ancient wood-cutter trails offering spectacular vistas, waterfalls, historic ruins, and abundant local flora and fauna.

Location and Transportation:

The Yoga Borgo is just 2 hours by car from the Florence Airport or 3 hours from Rome Fiumicino Airport. Other regional airports include Bologna and Pisa. The Yoga Borgo is owned and operated by Sada Sat Singh and Sada Sat Kaur. The Borgo gives you the opportunity to experience the tranquility, balance and health that comes from living a yogic life, whether for a day, a week or a lifetime.
