Starting September 16, 2011, through October 3, 2011, The Arc of Aurora will be online auctioning a number of fun and unique items to raise money for our organization, and the more bidders we have, the more money we can raise -- so we're asking for your help.
This year marks The Arc of Aurora’s tenth year of actively working to address crime victimization of people with developmental disabilities, and our LEGACY 2011 fundraising event, A Decade of Change: Raising Voices, Shedding Light, Giving Hope, honors that work.
The Arc of Aurora's work on victimization issues impacting people with intellectual and developmental disabilities began in 2001 with outreach and fundraising to facilitate our three-part Project Illumination that debuted in 2003: artist Jason Dilley’s Unheard Voices exhibit, the Community College of Aurora (CCA) Theatre Program's production of How I Learned to Drive, and traditional trainings on how to End the Silence surrounding the incidence, prevalence and impact of crime victimization of people with developmental disabilities.
In 2005, The Arc of Aurora implemented a federal grant that provided for training teams from around the country on how to replicate our Project Illumination in their communities.
In 2007, The Arc of Aurora implemented its second federal grant that provided for trainings in nine states on the Vulnerability Trail for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Additionally, The Arc of Aurora premiered V-Trail, a nationally distributed monthly e-newsletter that discusses opportunities, resources and articles regarding ways to address victimization.
Our work continues today with other community partners -- including the Aurora Police Department (APD), APD’s Victim Services’ Unit, Aurora Mental Health Center, arc Thrift Stores, Councilwoman Molly Markert, Gateway Battered Women’s Services, SungateKids, and others -- on the Collaborative to Address Crime Victimization of People with Developmental Disabilities.
Many thanks to Dr. Nora and the arc THRIFT STORES for their sponsorship support!

Spread the word. The more bidders we have, the more successful our fundraiser will be. Click on the "Refer Friends" button to give others the chance to get involved and have your name appear in our "Top Referrers" list.
A Decade of Change is a multi-media fundraising event that honors The Arc of Aurora's ten years of work in our community, throughout Colorado, and around the country to address crime victimization of people with developmental disabilities. Our efforts in this area have educated thousands and brought national recognition to our leadership on this issue. The monies raised through the Legacy fundraising event, including this on-line auction, will support the ongoing advocacy work of The Arc of Aurora, including our work with our local Collaborative to Address Crime Victimization of People with Developmental Disabilities.
The Arc of Aurora thanks you in advance for your support and participation.
