Item Description
One of the greatest tennis players of all time and a Presidential Medal of Freedom recipient for her advocacy for women in sports and LGBTQ rights, Billie Jean King won 39 Grand Slam titles in her tennis career and led the fight for equal pay in tennis. On Sept. 20, 1973, Billie Jean King defeated former No. 1 ranked men's tennis player Bobby Riggs, a self-described male chauvinist who said that the women’s game was inferior to the men’s game, in a "Battle of the Sexes" match.
