Support our Mission of BRINGING TRADITION TO LIFE!
Now is your chance to get fabulous experiences, special vacations, and dining opportunities while helping to support our organization and our Mission of BRINGING TRADITION TO LIFE! For the past ten years, Santa Barbara Revels has created community celebrations that mark seasonal change. We introduce our audiences to authentic traditions from diverse world cultures and different centuries, and we help them create their own tradition of participating in Revels; they join us in singing and dancing while being entertained, amused and enlightened. We note the Spring Equinox with a Pub Sing, hold a May Day event and present an Equinox Concert in the Fall. Our online auction will support these year-round activities that are presented free or at low cost and that bring the community together.
Your participation in our auction also helps make possible our annual award-winning theatrical production at the historic Lobero Theatre in downtown Santa Barbara. This year's new and original show, The Christmas Revels: An Early California Celebration of the Winter Solstice, tells of the time when Richard Henry Dana and his shipmates were guests at the marriage celebration of Anita De la Guerra, daughter of the Santa Barbara Presidio's Comandante. Dana wrote about it in his classic book, Two Years Before the Mast. The wedding festivities create the opportunity for an exchange of seasonal traditions between Anglo and Spanish guests, and our show features the sea shanties, mission music and Spanish favorites of the mid-1830's Rancho period in Central California. The Christmas Revels has become a favorite holiday tradition in Santa Barbara. As we like to say, "Join us and be joyous!"
