Why We Are Hosting This Event and Where Does the Money Go?

Too many children are dying from cancer.  Everyday, 7 die while 36 are diagnosed.  We lost Connor on January 6th, 2013 at the age of 6 months old.  No family should lose a child, especially one that young.  To hear the words âA?A? âA?A?Your child has cancerâA?A? âA?A? are to this day the worst words we have ever heard.  It is a nightmare that you never wake up from.  So, we want to help others avoid this fate.

Pediatric cancer gets very little funding.  In 2010, American Cancer Society donated 1 cent per dollar donated; Leukemia/Lymphoma donated 2 cents per dollar donated; National Cancer Institute put $176m towards pediatric cancer âA?A? less than 4%.

We will donate at least 95% of our proceeds to pediatric cancer research. We are planning on investing into a new phase 1 trial for a pediatric cancer drug that focuses on malignant rhabdoid tumors (MRT) including ATRT and other SNF5-deficient pediatric tumors, the biologic driver of the malignant features.  It is a promising new agent that appears to target one of the main drivers of the development of ATRT and several other tumors.  It will be studied in a pediatrics study conducted by the Pediatric Oncology Experimental Therapeutics InvestigatorsâA?A? Consortium (POETIC). Â
