Superstar Smokey Robinson will be headlining the Alabama Shakespeare Festival’s Benefit the Bard Concert on Saturday, August 23, 2014, at 8 p.m.  Smokey Robinson has written and performed many of the greatest hits in pop music history as part of his group The Miracles and as a solo artist. A selection of his memorable songs include Shop Around, You’ve Really Got a Hold on Me, Ooo Baby Baby, The Tracks of My Tears, Tears of a Clown, Being With You, Cruisin’, Just to See Her and I Second That Emotion.

Presented by Wind Creek Hospitality and ASF, this private event is a fundraiser to support the Alabama Shakespeare Festival and its artistic and educational programs.  Tickets are available to the public through this auction by bidding or by using the “Buy Now” option.  You will have the ability to choose your experience through tiered options.  Each auction item includes a pair of tickets for a selected seat in the balcony of ASF’s Festival Stage.

If you are interested in seats in Section 1, please contact Lindsey Jinright at ljinright@asf.net or 334-271-5343 for information on making a donation at the Baby Come Close gift level.

The Alabama Shakespeare Festival is the State Theatre of Alabama. In addition to producing the highest level of professional theatre, ASF operates Schoolfest, a comprehensive, student-matinee program that exposes more than 40,000 students each year to the theatrical arts. The theatre also conducts multiple camps and classes for children and adults throughout the year. ASF’s annual Southern Writers’ Project Festival of New Plays focuses on the creation of new Southern-themed works, many of which have gone on to be published or produced at theatres around the country.  To keep ticket prices affordable, over half of ASF’s $7.5 million budget must come from contributions.  Your bidding as high as possible will well serve ASF and, in turn, the students and adults of the state and region.
