Gotham Early Music Scene's Online Auction Fundraiser is LIVE!
Gotham Early Music Scene (GEMS) is a non-profit cultural organization in the business of supporting and promoting “early music” -- the sacred and secular music composed during the roughly 1,000 years spanning the medieval, Renaissance, baroque, and early classical periods. As the antecedent and foundation of nearly all music today—including both classical and pop-- it is accessible, diverse, and timeless. Providing immediate and emotional connection to the full range of human experience, it has engaged audiences and inspired musicians for centuries.
GEMS has scheduled a fundraising event for this fall and our Online Auction Fundraiser is Up and Running until September 19!
* A Limited Number of Tickets will be Available at the Door, Sunday 9/20
* Click "Register to Bid" in the top Search bar to begin bidding
* Online Bidding Ends at 6 PM, Saturday 9/19!
Below contains more information about who we are:
Deemed “essential” by The New York Times, GEMS has been serving our community for over seven years. Here are a few highlights:
The auction proceeds will go to support the long-term viability of GEMS, which after seven successful years of operation, needs to establish a more permanent financial footing to continue supporting artists in the early music field.
We will be holding a special, exciting late afternoon and evening event on Sunday September 20 as a benefit for GEMS, and as a way of honoring Judith Davidoff (pictured above), New York early music pioneer, teacher, and viola da gamba virtuoso. The event will include a symposium, a concert, and a reception including the silent auction.
Starting on September 10, 2015, GEMS will be auctioning off a number of fun and unique items to bid on to raise money for our organization beginning in this unique online format, concluding online on September 19, finishing the evening of September 20 at our live event.
Happy Bidding!
