The Marching Eagle Brigade's needs new uniforms. I am a parent of a child in the band and am holding this fundraiser with the goal of purchasing new uniforms and replacing damaged instruments. The marching band program wouldn't be possible without the dedication of the band director, staff, students and parents. Limited school budgets mean that the band has to be almost entirely supported by the parents through fees and fundraising. The Marching Eagle Brigade has a band booster organization raises money to pay for competition fees, travel, instrument repair and all of the other costs associated with the band, but has been unable to raise enough to purchase new uniforms.
Participation in music-related programs has been directly correlated to higher levels of performance in academic pursuits. The students learn skills far beyond the music itself by participating in the marching band. Among these important skills are time management and teamwork. The band practices at least 10 hours a week and participates in football games, competitions, parades and other events. Our students come from diverse backgrounds and learn to work together seamlessly to achieve a common goal. During these long hours spent together, the students often develop friendships that last a lifetime.
Under our current Band Director's leadership, the Springstead Band has participated and placed in many competitions. To support this continued goal, we are in desperate need of new marching uniforms. Our current uniforms were purchased more than 15 years ago. They have frayed edges and the fabric is wearing thin in many areas. The children line up before competitions and performances to have uniforms pinned into place and zippers pinned closed, which detracts from time they could be practicing. For about 1/2 of our band, the uniform they put on was purchased before they were born.
Your support of our fundraiser, through purchasing auction items or making donations, will help not just the 100 children currently in our marching band, but all of the incoming students in the band for the next 10 years. That's a reach impacting at least 250 kids over the next 10 years! The band and I greatly appreciate your support.
