Amas Musical Theatre is New York's celebrated champion of multiculturalism anid diversity in the performing arts. Amas (from the Latin "Love") was founded in 1968 by pioneering actress and producer Rosetta LeNoire (1911-2002) to combat racism and promote understanding within and across our culture. For this work she was recognized in 1999 with the National Medal Arts by President Clinton.

The core Amas focus over 48 years, musical theatre as a catalyst for collaboration and transformation, energizes all of our programming:

  • To create, develop, and produce orignial musicals that celebrate diversity and inclusion;
  • To support and promote the emergence of new artistic talent that reflects a multicultural society; and
  • To inspire and nurture the creativity and empathy of young people, especially those from underserved communities.

Led since 1994 by artistic producer Donna Trinkoff, Amas has emerged as a recognized center of musical development expertise.

All funds raised will be used to support Amas theatre and education programs.
