Decks

We need “All Hands On Deck” to gain outdoor classroom space for our primary students that fits with Butler’s educational, aesthetic, and ecological environment.  Our plan is to install 2 large decks (approx.  12 ft x 12 ft each) outside of the primary classrooms to create a generous space for the children to work. gather, and play.  Continuing Butler’s commitment to its environment and the Seneca Creek Watershed, we will replace the existing impervious concrete with Dasso XTR, a durable, sustainable bamboo composite.  The decking will be installed on a frame and spaced to allow water to drain through the decking and seep into the ground where it will be slowed and filtered before entering the watershed.  This is the same beautiful decking used in the boardwalk that runs parallel with the pool on the front side of the school.

Think we’re one card shy of a full deck?  Be assured that we are playing with a full deck and have cleared the decks to make this happen.  To ensure that the deck is not stacked against us, we need all deck hands to hit the deck for ALL HANDS ON DECK!  Or, in land-lubber terms, here’s how you can help:
