a benefit auction to support McSweeney's Publishing

Starting on October 16, 2018, McSweeney's will be auctioning off a number of props and costumes from Boots Riley's 2018 hit film Sorry to Bother You.

Called "brilliantly outrageous" (IndieWire) and "wildly original" (Variety) Sorry to Bother You was originally published in 2014 as part of McSweeney's Quarterly Issue 48. Now a major motion picture, written and directed by Boots Riley, the film offers a raucous view into class, politics, and race in a dystopic (but all too real) modern-day Oakland, California. It shows us code-switching as high art and what it takes in today’s world to climb that capitalist ladder.
