The Place We Call Home

Freeport Community Services is a community-run, community-based organization, founded in 1974 above a volunteer's garage by concerned residents who wanted to help their neighbors. Today as we've grown, FCS coordinates programs and supplies a handful of direct services to our neighbors in the towns of Freeport and Pownal, Maine.

FCS provides unique and much needed services for the people who live in the communities of Freeport and Pownal; including a food pantry, a thrift shop, fuel assistance, holiday meals and gifts, transportation to medical appointments, emergency services, a community garden, both a summer lunch program and a school year weekend supplemental food program for pre-school age children, summer camp scholarships, a reading program for children and so much more.

For over 45 years, we continue the mission that the founders based their idea on: “neighbor helping neighbor."
