San Francisco Rock Project, a nonprofit, performance-based rock music school for kids age 8-18, was founded in June 2010 by dedicated parents and musicians. SFRP exposes students from diverse backgrounds and neighborhoods of the Bay Area to all forms of rock from punk basics to intricate progressive and fusion rock. By performing in mixed-age, mixed ability groups, students learn valuable lessons about cooperation, compromise, hard work and devotion to their art. SFRP fills a void created by the de-funding of music programs in public schools and the dominance of classical instrumental instruction for kids outside of school. Our Holiday Rock Prom & Auction will raise funds to support our scholarship program and purchase much needed musical equipment. We are committed to bringing the SFRP experience to talented and deserving local youth regardless of their economic situation. Since we opened our doors, we have increased the percentage of students receiving scholarships significantly.
