We need your help in order to make this tackle ! One of the most stressful road blocks cancer patients face is transportation to treatment. In fact, a recent study by the National Institute of Health shows 20% of cancer patients in the United States delay treatment due to the lack of transportation resources. A patient undergoing radiation and chemotherapy may require 30-40 trips to treatment over a 6 month period. Amongst all ethnicities, transportation and lodging are two of the primary barriers to accessing necessary treatment. William Dominic Austin is the founder of Tackles4cancer, and he is a NFL Alumni, cancer survivor (January 2015), and an ambassador of Beyonce??A???A???A?s humanitarian foundation, 'Bey Good'. Over the course of his football career Austin tackled more than 400 opponents. When he heard the words "You have cancer", he knew tackling cancer would be the most sIgnificant tackle of his life. Following his diagnosis he has participated in several charity events to assist cancer patients including the 2016 NCAA final four Coaches vs Cancer basketball game sponsored by Infiniti, which raised over $750,000 for the American Cancer Society. Tackles4Cancer The Drive program is a bridge that leads to Remission Rd and our mission is to ensure all cancer patients receive the treatment they need. The riders receive a Tackles4Cancer care package that includes a t-shirt, soap, and other items to encourage them along their journey. We would like to invite you to sponsor our 3rd Annual Tackles4Cancer Gala on Friday October 28, 2016. The emcee for the event will be the Emmy Award Winning Melissa Wilson, one of Houston??A???A???A?s top 50 most influential women. The key note speaker is Ivy McGregor, the Philanthropy Manager for Beyonc??A???A?'s Humanitarian initiative, Bey Good. The evening will also feature a performance by two award winning gospel singers, Kim Burrell, Bryan Courtney Wilson, and the Houston Orchestra On Call. Baylor College of Medicine will also feature a Cancer Monologue, as well as a featured Oncologist.
