A Light for Zimbabwe is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization Our mission is to empower, particularly orphans, and to fund sustainable projects. In a country of 12 million people, there are 1 million orphans. In a declining economy with only 15-20% of the people employed, many of these children are unable to go to school. They are cared for by elderly or overburdened extended family or, as applies to many of our kids, they live on their own in child headed households. Going to bed hungry is common, clean drinking water is not readily available, people die from treatable illnesses every day and school becomes a luxury as there is no public education and fees are required.
