Student Statement Community School students arrive curious about the world, develop skills and confidence in an engaging community, and graduate empowered to make meaningful contributions. Philosophy The Jackson Hole Community School delivers an exceptional high school experience that prepares students to be independent thinkers who demonstrate personal integrity and moral purpose. Our commitment to service and experiential programming stimulates individual investment in learning, critical thinking, and a spirit of inquiry in our students. We respect each community member as a unique individual, honor ideas and opinions that are different from our own, and value strong interpersonal relationships. We believe quality education requires a collaborative effort from the school, the home, and the community. Accreditations Jackson Hole Community School is dually accreditated by the Northwest Association of Independent Schools (NWAIS), as well as AdvancEd. History Planning for the Jackson Hole Community School (JHCS) began in the fall of 1999 when founders, Kathleen Crowley and Scott Hirschfield, met to discuss possibilities for providing another choice for high school in Jackson, Wyoming. For years they worked on fine-tuning the the mission, philosophy and curriculum, and worked tirelessly to build the support and funding needed to launch an independent high school. The Community School launched in the fall of 2004 with 18 students in the ninth and tenth grades. The eleventh grade was added for the 2005-2006 school year and enrollment increased to 29 students. The first senior class graduated in 2007, and in the spring of 2016 the 10th class of 27 seniors walked across the stage! Students and families continue to seek out a Community School education. While at JHCS, students revel in the school's community atmosphere, learn skills that help them become leaders in society, and participate in a college-prep curriculum.
