The New England Educational Opportunity Association, or NEOA, is a non-profit, tax-exempt organization with 501(c)(3) status made up of professionals who are actively interested in insuring equal educational opportunities in higher education. Founded in the early 1970's, NEOA has membership of more than 250 educators throughout New England. NEOA membership is primarily made up of educators from the federally-funded Trio programs; like Upward Bound, Veterans Upward Bound, Math-Science Upward Bound, Educational Talent Search, Student Support Services, the Ronald E. McNair Post-Baccalaureate Program, and Educational Opportunity Centers; Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs (GEAR-UP), and other educational opportunity programs. These 125 programs serve more than 50,000 low-income, disabled, and potential first-generation college students in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont.
