"To promote the ideals of peace between nations while enriching their lives through art, culture, education and recreation through nature and conservation." In 1929, Dr. Henry J. Moore along with the Nat'l Assoc of Gardeners conceived the idea of a garden on an international border. A garden on an international border would allow individuals to gather and celebrate friendship between nations and be an example to the world of what was possible when two nations worked together in peace. The International Peace Garden is a botanical garden and recreational nature park that spans 2,400 acres along the U.S. and Canada border. The Garden boasts unique attractions including a world-class cactus collection of over 5,000+ unique species, a Peace Chapel, a 9/11 Memorial, the North American Game Warden Museum and many opportunities for outdoor recreation including kayaking, canoeing, hiking, biking, and camping. IPG is also home to art, culture and educational opportunities.
