Once again we had to cancel our annual gala fundraiser in March which typically raises over $200,000, plus lost hours of lessons and lower foundation grants, reducing our revenue for a 2nd challenging year! Add to that several maintenance projects postponed from last year and a new horse to lessen the stressful workload of our herd, means we need your help to continue our life-changing experiences for our team - students, Veterans, alumni, and passionate volunteers!

Below are examples of our needs, and please scroll to the bottom of the page to enter your much appreciated donation!

Fund-A-Need: New updates for Bo's Stall

Total cost will be $1900 - Thanks to our volunteers we have done a lot of the work ourselves, but we still have materials to purchase to bring this stall up to our current standards with a cushioned area to rest and an extended cedar rest area for enjoying life at Xenophon!

Fund-A-Need: Upgrade & Repair of our 2 Mounting ramps and blocks

Total cost will be $1600 - The upgrades and repairs are needed for the safety of our participants. Thanks to our amazing engineering volunteers we have done some of the work ourselves, but we have more work and materials to purchase.

Fund-A-Need: $100 Sponsors one Pediatric Therapy session with one of our Occupational or Physical Therapists

Give the gift of equine therapy for a child with disabilities. At Xenophon, Physical and Occupational Therapists use the movement of the horse in their treatment plan with our young clients. Patients are referred by their doctors for treatment, with the goal of functional outcomes in activities of daily living. The therapist manipulates the movement of the horse to influence a rider's posture, balance, coordination, and strength through a full sensory experience.

Fund-A-Need: $300 Sponsors a child's Therapeutic Riding lesson for one session

Give the gift of equine therapy for a child with disabilities. Therapeutic Riding is an equine-assisted activity that contributes positively to the cognitive, physical, emotional, and social well-being of children with special needs. Lessons are tailored to each participant's abilities, with specific goals established and regularly reviewed, while also developing riding skills. For each lesson, we provide an instructor, a horse handler, and two volunteer sidewalkers.

Fund-A-Need: $500 Funds our young adult Alumni programs for one session

Give the gift of equine therapy and social interaction for our young adults with disabilities. These programs were developed to respond to the lack of opportunities for disabled adults in our community. Participants follow a groundwork curriculum, polishing valuable communication and life skills through their interaction with the horses as well as volunteers. Working with their horse partner they participate in their grooming and care, leading exercises, learn barn operations and management, and earn Ground School Badges. We offer sessions specifically for our student alumni to come back to Xenophon to experience a new level of horsemanship, and partner with local nonprofits that bring their clients to Xenophon.

Fund-A-Need: $1,500 Supports our Operation Hooves on the Ground veterans' program for one session

Give the gift of equine therapy for local veterans suffering from traumatic brain injury, post-traumatic stress (PTS), and military sexual trauma (MST). Working with our naturally non-judgmental horses, the goals are for veterans to experience relief from their symptoms and improve their physical, social, and emotional health, regaining trust. Veterans groom, lead, lunge, and interact in other ways with our therapy horses, as well as develop basic and intermediate horse-handling, communication, training, and riding skills.

Fund-A-Need: $1,200 Supports one session of our Connected Horse program for dementia patients and their care partner

Give the gift of equine-guided workshops for people living with early-stage dementia and their care partners. Grounded in clinical research, piloted at Xenophon TRC, and led by facilitators, participants engage in grooming, leading, and interacting with horses in an open arena, with the goals of reducing life stress and enhancing communication and relationships through a new shared experience.

Fund-A-Need: $2,500 Sponsors a highly trained therapy horse for our summer sessions

Give the gift of care for one of our highly trained horses who display total unconditional love every day with all our participants. Therapy horses are amazing animals - powerful yet gentle and highly astute, they develop deep relationships with people around them. To our well-trained, dependable therapy horses, it is irrelevant whether an individual uses a wheelchair or doesn't speak, is unbalanced, or makes an untimely shriek for joy; these remarkable animals have an extraordinary ability to inspire confidence, pride, and an exceptional sense of accomplishment. They have undergone extensive training that ensures their reliability, patience, and acceptance of the adaptive equipment needed that enables them to do the job required. And we in turn provide exceptional daily care and overflowing love from our volunteers and participants!

Fund-A-Need: $5,000 Sponsors 1 Pediatric Therapy Services client and 1 Therapeutic Riding student for one year

Give the gift of equine therapy for children with disabilities by providing the life-changing experience at Xenophon for two students, for a year. Moments of change come every visit and the benefits are visible...including the smiles! Our programs exercise the mind and body in a fun & safe environment, building empathy, focus, problem-solving skills, as well as muscle memory and strengthening the core, back, and legs.
