Item Description
Join Sarah Powers and Ty Powers at Kripalu for this multi-dimensional yoga retreat August 22-27, 2010.
Ms. Powers' Insight Yoga is a program and path of body-mind awareness that draws from the wisdom of yoga, Buddhism, Chinese medicine, and transpersonal psychology, and involves four interdependent realms of development: body, heart, mind, and relationships. Each day of this retreat will include aspects from all four.
Sarah Powers began teaching in 1987. She interweaves the insights and practices of Yoga and Buddhism into an integral practice to enliven the body, heart and mind. Her yoga style blends both a Yin sequence of long held poses to enhance the meridian and organ systems, combined with a flow or Yang practice, influenced by Viniyoga, Ashtanga, and Iyengar teachings. Ty Powers has also been a yoga practitioner since 1987, facilitating and leading yoga and meditation retreats throughout the world, with Sarah.
For more than 30 years, Kripalu has been teaching skills for optimal living through experiential education for the whole person: body, mind, and spirit. It is the largest and most established retreat center for yoga, health, and holistic living in North America.
This program is intended for dedicated students and teachers with some understanding of Yin Yoga and mindfulness meditation. To deepen the contemplative atmosphere, silence will be encouraged outside of practice sessions.
Required reading Sarah Powers, Insight Yoga (Shambhala Publications).
