Avalanches are serious business in western Colorado. The Aspen Expeditions extensive avalanche-education program aims to equip backcountry enthusiasts ? including skiers, snowboarders, snowshoers and snowmobilers ? with the knowledge and experience to safely enjoy the winter backcountry.
Learn to plan, evaluate & execute a successful ski/snowboard tour above treeline in the Rockies! Awareness of snowpack stability is critical to the choice of route and successful/safe completion of the day's tour. Avalanche assessment and avoidance skills are of primary importance to those traveling through the winter backcountry.
Aspen Expeditions offers AIARE-certified Level 1 and Level 2 courses at a variety of times throughout the winter both on weekends and during the week. Custom courses available. (All courses include the $15 AIARE fee and $ 20 field book -required)
