Story Behind the Art:
"Elaine's journey to becoming a jewelry artist began somewhat unexpectedly on a childhood trip to the Statue of Liberty. While there she became fascinated with the patina affect covering the metal of the monument. The captivation stayed with her, and while in college, she decided that she wanted to become an artist like some other members of her family. With a desire to create wearable art, Elaine set about learning various techniques from schools in the US and Mexico. Drawing on various themes, art history, and of course, her signature patina, Elaine began creating the kind of objects she had dreamed about. Starting small, she first showed her pieces in Harvard Square in Boston. But they got attention. First local boutiques began to purchase, then department stores, museums, and galleries. As the saying goes, the rest is history. Elaine's operation is still small. She and her son design the pieces, and about 5 artisans execute them the Elaine Coyne way in a rustic studio in Kennesaw, Georgia."
