Description

Alan F. Rumrill, the director of the Historical Society of Cheshire County, will lead a private tour for up to six people of downtown Keene's "Magical History Tour" murals. In June of 2019, the Magical History Tour festival transformed the sides of sixteen downtown buildings with murals based on scenes from Keene's history. The muralists were known as "Walldogs" (an old term for sign painters or mural artists), and they came from all over the world to take part in the festival.

Alan Rumrill has been the director of the Historical Society of Cheshire County for over 35 years. He is known widely for his presentations and publications on the history of the Monadnock Region, including his recent series, "Viral Stories, Tales for a Pandemic." Rumrill's walking tours are always a big hit.

The private tour will include a picnic lunch under the pavilion on the grounds of the Wyman Tavern historic house museum, which won a 2020 Preservation Achievement Award from the New Hampshire Preservation Alliance. The six participants will be filled with delicious food and fascinating local history stories.
