Item Description
Berge Minassian MD is currently at the forefront of Lafora Disease Research.
Early in his career, while at UCLA, he played an instrumental role in the discovery of the gene that causes Lafora Disease. He has since gone on to become an Associate Professor in the University of Toronto Department of Paediatrics, Division of Neurology and Senior Scientist in the Department of Genetics and Genome Biology at The University of Toronto Hospital For Sick Children.
His laboratory is already testing drugs that can cure Lafora Disease in mice. There is more work to be done before these drugs can be tested in humans, but it is just a matter of time. Every dollar that we are able to send to his laboratory speeds up this process.
He has identified this minus 80 degree centigrade freezer as his lab's current most pressing equipment need. Please help us help him buy this $10,000 machine with proceeds from this auction. To contribute $25 or more, select the quantity and then click on "Buy Now" above.
