Item Description
Argazzi Art in Lakeville, Connecticutt has donated this striking piece of metal art by emerging artist Miya Ando.
Ms. Ando, of Japanese and Russian descent, lives in Brooklyn and says of her background and lineage that she was "raised bilingually and in two distinct cultures, a Buddhist temple in Japan and Santa Cruz, California. I am a descendant of Bizen swordmaker Ando Yoshiro Masakatsu and was raised among swordsmiths-turned Buddhist priests. My spiritual, familial, and academic experiences deeply inform every aspect of my work."
Recent work includes an installation of metal art at the Against the Stream Meditation Society center in Los Angeles. Ms. Ando's work is, in the words of gallery owner and agent Judith Argazzi Singellis, truly "luminous and ethereal."
