Meet Milagro, C.A.R.E.’s first “recycled” dog.
Milagro, “Millie" for short, was left in a recycling metal plant on a very hot summer day in the smoggy San Fernando Valley. The little Dachshund-Chihuahua mix was abandoned at the plant, and was found terrified and starving by an employee. With Milagro in his arms, the frantic employee raced down the line of cars, desperately seeking a kind soul who might take this poor dog and give her a second chance. As fate would have it one of C.A.R.E.’s board members Maria, and two of C.A.R.E.’s volunteers, Rosie and Giovanni, heard the employee’s pleas...”We’ll take the dog right now!!!”. Millie was taken immediately to the vet, and though she was very underweight, malnourished, and shaking with fear, thankfully, she was not seriously injured. Today, far from the plant where she was abandoned, and forever out of harm’s way, Millie lives in a C.A.R.E. foster home with her rescued friends Jay (a poodle) and Pete (a very shy Chihuahua). Seven pounds of happiness and love, Millie loves to play with her toys. The universe brought Millie and C.A.R.E. together in a miracle moment when need and suffering were immediately met with help and compassion. We never know when at-risk dogs or cats will need our help. C.A.R.E. can only provide this life saving assistance with your generous support!
