CUONG NHU, which means hard/soft, is an eclectic blend of seven martial arts which was brought to the United States in 1971, by the founder, Grandmaster Ngo Dong. He originated the style in Vietnam in 1965 by combining the hard and soft styles of Karate, Judo, Aikido, Tai Chi, Vovinam, Wing Chun and American Boxing. By synthesizing these arts into a cohesive discipline, participants learn not only fighting technique, but a spiritual path for self-improvement, community service and love and respect for others.
Hoa Sen Dojo is a woman-run school which reflects the philosophy of self improvement to help others. Technique is taught to allow the student to gain confidence in self defense and artistry in martial movement.
