Dr. Angelou is globally respected and admired for her poetry, role as a historian, loved author, impeccable actress, playwright, African-American civil-rights activist, producer and director. Her lectures throughout the USA and in foreign countries are spellbinding. “The Heart of a Woman” was an Oprah Book Club® Selection in May 1997. It is the fourth in a series of the account of her remarkable life and takes us through one of the most exciting and formative periods of Angelou’s amazing life: her beginnings as a writer and an activist in New York.
