Item Description

Maya Angelou was raised in the perilously dangerous times of segregated Arkansas.  Dr. Angelou is globally respected and admired for her poetry, role as a historian, loved author, impeccable actress, playwright, African-American civil-rights activist, producer and director.  Her lectures throughout the USA and in foreign countries are spellbinding.  “A Song Flung Up to Heaven” triumphantly completes the six volumes of autobiography.  This book deals with the years 1964-1968, a turbulent period in which Angelou came back to America after her African sojourn.  This was the time of the assassination of Malcolm X and Martin Luther King.
