Item Description

This unique two-piece fiber artwork, Night and Day in the Gardens, was created for the Northside Artist's Group exhibit Celebrating the Land:  The Joy of Troy Gardens by artist Betsy Tuttle, who is generously donating it to this auction.

The work is made from felted sweater wool fabric and is hand sewn with wool yarn.  Each section is 19 inches by 19 inches.

Intrigued, but finding it hard to bid on artwork that you can only see in a photo?  Stop by the Lakeview Branch Library at the corner of Sherman Avenue and Northport Drive in  Madison, where the Celebrating the Land: The Joy of Troy Gardens exhibit is now hanging, to see Ms. Tuttle's vibrant and engaging image of Troy Gardens in the wool.

Item Special Note

The artist statement accompanying this piece states: Since childhood I have loved zinnias.  Some Troy gardeners grow a row of zinnias, while others grow a whole plot of these colorful flowers that I enjoy on my walks.  These hand sewn wool pieces turn the plots into rectangles of green and blue, and are overlaid with colorful squares representing the flowers.

Note:  The artwork will be delivered to the winner after the current exhibit ends, in early 2011.
