Item Description
Artist: Karen Ladd
Karen earned a degree in Art Education from St. Lawrence University in 2000 and went on to complete her M.Ed at Lesley University in 2006. This school year marked her tenth year at Sanborn Regional High School in Kingston, NH where she teaches drawing, painting and ceramics. Having grown up in the hills of rural Vermont, Karen still finds inspiration in the contrast of light, shadow, and color found in a dramatically lit landscape.
This chair represents a new interest of Karen’s, Uzbekistani Ikat textiles. She appreciates the imperfections often found in these handmade textiles as she does not use stencils, tracing paper, or other devices in her own artwork. All Karen’s pieces are drawn and painted by eye and a steady hand. To admire Karen's chair up-close, please visit Blue Moon Evolution at 8 Clifford St. in Exeter, NH.
