Bid now on this 1936 Mint Set Sample donated by International Currency! 75 Years Old!
1936 was the first year of issue for US Mint proof coin sets. The Jefferson nickel replaced the buffalo nickel in 1938. In 1942, the composition of the nickel was changed, and some mint proof sets contain both nickels. The US Mint ceased issuing proof sets for seven years due to metal shortages caused by World War II.
The 1936 sets contained the Walking Liberty Half Dollar, the Washington Quarter, the Mercury Dime, the Buffalo Nickel, and the Lincoln Wheat Penny.
This particular set has been circulated, but is encased in a plastic protective covering.
