Item Description
Larry Kramer's masterful work THE NORMAL HEART made its Broadway debut in 2011, 26 years after its powerful Off-Broadway premier at The Public Theater in the East Village. The play focuses on the rise of the AIDS crisis in New York City and the harsh and uncaring world patients faced in the early years. This award-winning production ran on Broadway for 86 performances and walked away with three Tony Awards, including Best Revival of a Play and performance awards for stars Ellen Barkin and John Benjamin Hickey. This stunning photograph of the entire cast by Joan Marcus is a reprint of her photo that hung outside the Golden Theatre during the show's run and is signed by the entire company, directors Joel Grey and George C. Wolfe, and playwright Larry Kramer. A true piece of American history, THE NORMAL HEART continues to educate new generations about the realities of the terrible epidemic the world still endures.
