Item Description

Elizabeth Taylor made only two appearances on Broadway, including the 1981 production of THE LITTLE FOXES at the Martin Beck Theatre (now the Hirschfeld Theatre). This rare backstage moment was captured shortly before curtain by renowned New York photographer Rivka Katvan in Ms. Taylor's dressing room - indeed painted a lovely shade of violet.  Measuring 27"x21" this gorgeous black and white photograph was generously autographed by Ms. Taylor  just last year as a special favor for BC/EFA.

On March 23, 2011, Elizabeth Taylor passed away and the world lost its most outspoken champion for people living with HIV/AIDS. Ms. Taylor became the courageous voice for millions by working tirelessly for nearly 30 years on behalf of those who could not. From the earliest days of AIDS, Ms. Taylor bravely embraced its victims, a time when many feared an unknown disease and many more with the power to help refused to do so. She did not see personal or professional danger; she saw only that she was needed. Her dedication and devotion to help others created a wave of compassion against a rising tide of prejudice that is still felt the world over.

Elizabeth Taylor will be remembered as not only a great actress and the quintessential movie star but also as a loving friend and extraordinary woman.  She will be missed.

Courtesy of Rivka Katvan and Dale Olson.  With much love sent to BC/EFA Trustee Kate Burton and, of course, Elizabeth Taylor.
