Item Description

The Winning Bidder will receive 2 tickets to any 2012/2013 CENTERSTAGE Preview Performance.

*This season, the Preview Performances were offered at 7 or 8 P.M. in the evening, plus a 2 P.M. weekend matinee, for at least the 6 days before a show's opening night.

Next season's schedule hasn't been released yet, but here are the amazing shows that were produced for the 2011-2012 season:

  1. The Rivals - Swooning lovers, plucky maids, wily valets, irate guardians, and of course a duel: this is the world of Bath, which leaps to sparkling life with matchless wit and lively invention in this enduring classic. With all the brilliance of his fellow Irish scribes Oscar Wilde and George Bernard Shaw, Sheridan single-handedly revived English stage comedy with his landmark play.
  2. American Buffalo - In a cluttered pawn shop, an unlikely trio plot to steal a rare coin. But times are hard, tensions mount, and the need to get ahead turns ruthless. A modern masterpiece, showcasing Mamet's legendary knack for plot twists and his mastery of the profane poetry of capitalism.
  3. Gleam - Based on the novel "Their Eyes Were Watching God" by Zora Neale Hurston.  At 16, Janie faces a marriage of convenience and a life of quiet drudgery. Instead, she embarks on a journey that brings successes and losses enough for several lifetimes—a passage to fulfillment so singular that it manages to speak for all of our dreams. This soaring saga brings to life the vivid characters of Zora Neale Hurston’s beloved novel, a shining jewel of the Harlem Renaissance by one of America’s literary giants.
  4. A Skull in Connemara - In a flyspeck of a town in Ireland’s fabled West, four lonely, lovable misfits dig for the truth—and get so much more. This sidesplitting yarn conjures a macabre mystery packed with merriment, mayhem, and might-be murder that is as full of twists as a shillelagh and as haunting as a whistle in a graveyard.
  5. Into the Woods - Music and Lyrics by Stephen Sondheim. What happens after Happily Ever After, after all? In Sondheim and Lapine’s beloved musical retelling of the Grimm classics, a parade of familiar folktale figures find their way “Into the Woods” and try to get home before dark—under the guidance of Mark Lamos, who dazzled us with A Little Night Music in 2008.
  6. The Whipping Man - Why is this night different from all other nights? For three Richmond Jews—one a former Confederate soldier, two his former slaves—gathered around a makeshift Seder table at the close of the Civil War, age-old questions of justice and freedom find new and surprising answers.
